Getting closer to a "postcards in space/popup-book" look but still have to understand how to control the chewing gum connections.

@Quasimondo would it make sense to have an “energy” function of some sort here? e.g. the more stretched a pixel is the more potential energy it stores, and therefore more likely to be “chewing gum” .
