Hi All! #Commissions are extra open right now (yay, unexpected bills!) Standard waist-up couples commissions are $75, and I can add people/pets/details for a little extra.
I also draw pets, OCs, RPG characters, etc. I like to keep it to original stuff, but I'll sometimes make exceptions for reinterpretations of characters, or characters in different settings (see L&C example below) I have a general style, but can go more/less cartoony, different ink styles, etc.

We're crowdfunding the print version of Pictures of You's fifth volume right now. The first four books are available too. It's a well-told story with important themes that changes minds and has literally saved lives.
Did some poking around in the @usercount timeline. If I'm understanding this correctly, it looks like at the beginning of the month, there were 800-1000 signups at mastodon.social per week. But over this last week, there have been over 13,000 new signups.
Very curious to see where those numbers go over the next few weeks!
Also, I'm not referring to helpful get-to-know-masto posts that point out the cw as a great way to post heavy shit responsibility. It is, and I really love it and recommend it.
Hey, just gonna put this out there, I know the react to new people from birb site may be "don't turn this into a craphole", I get it, but that can be pretty alienating & feel accusatory, esp. if you've undergone abuse. Please be specific if one must make preemptive warnings, words like "negative/ity" are really vague & can sound tone policey. Just say words like "harassment" if that is what one means. A lot of ppl have been told their legit feelings/concerns were "negative" all their lives.

I just want everyone to know that Aldi sells pretty good socks. I know you're probably like "grocery store socks?" But it's true. Mine are still nice and cushy after like 8 months. #socktoots
So #mastodonadmins how are y'all handling costs for servers, now and projected growth? Stuff gets expensive and those hosting bills gotta get paid. What's going on for people now? Mostly running it for free cause it's small? Donations covering everything? Making money even?

Thought on Mastodon v. big 2 social media: birb & facey have conditioned us to "want" certain things out of "social media" and a lot of that is:
🔹 likes
🔹 followers
🔹 constant stream of content
Basically, it's evolved into more a marketing media than the social media in began as:
🔸 a place to feel comfortable
🔸 share interests
🔸 have conversations
🔸 have income-independent fun.
I don't know if mastodon will get me back to that, but I hope so, and I want to be open to it.

This platform reminds me so much of chat rooms from the 90s & early 00s. Feels oddly comforting...
Also keep in mind not all instances are moderated. Admins of some instances have entire instances blocked for this reason. Mastodon as a whole is not a troll and bigot free zone.
But a lot of instances that allow them to harass freely are blocked by other instances so you'll still never have to deal with them depending on where you go.
Welcome new folx! There's plenty of FAQ's out there with info but I noticed a lot of people are joining up at mastodon.social -- this is great! Nothing wrong with that!
But be sure to check out all the other instances too! Some are smaller, some are for different social groups (there are some specifically for artists, programmers, LGBT+ folx, furries, we got a lot of everything!)
Just remember you don't have to stick with one instance and feel free to look around and find one that you like!
