Tonight I am super annoyed that it’s basically impossible to get a disk image of a macOS installer anymore.

@SamTheGeek there’s a script inside the .app bundle that’ll create a bootable image, iirc

@steve_holt yep! It keeps yelling at me that the location for the installer bundle isn’t a volume. And I just want to restore a disk image.

@SamTheGeek I mean, could you create the bootable volume on a USB drive and then image *that* with disk util?

yes, I know it's a terrible workaround, but then... computers are also terrible.

@SamTheGeek haven’t used my Mac in a while, isn’t there a shell command you can use if you’ve downloaded the installer already? Def not the easiest way it could be done but I think I remember doing that before
