Did you know: until the early 80s, the religious position was that life began at birth, and specifically with the newborn's first (unaided) breath.

It wasn't until the Right realized that the sexual revolution wasn't just a phase and needed a new way to limit the sexual agency and freedom of people who weren't cis men that the current "life begins at conception" rhetoric settled in.

@Shamar Some questions for you to consider:

1) Each egg and spermatozoön also contains a full genome. Why aren't they people?

2) US law enshrines the right of a caretaker to discontinue life support from a non-responsive person. Why is the same act murder when the non-responsive person is a fetus?

3) US law enshrines the right of a person to not have their body used to medically support another person without continued, affirmative consent. Why is a fetus different?

@Shamar Finally, 4) How is it "oppressive social control" to give women MORE agency over their bodies and actions? Oppressive social control necessarily /restricts/ agency.
