why must trespassing be "illegal", you mean i can't just climb into someone's property and pet their cats? or even wave at them through the window to show my love and support?

All actions you cite are (or were) perfectly acceptable in some cultures.
#Property is a cultural construct too. A concept that came from the normalization of the steal of commons fields: it was called #private because the community were privated of those fields.
Till few decades ago, in small #Italian villages, house doors were not locked: everyone was welcome in.
I saw the same in #Kenya.
Ask yourself why you joke about how injust are these things. 😉
