A lot of US Evangelical Christians and Conservatives say "Nazi" when they really mean "Stalinist".
They say this because they've been taught for decades now that "Nazis were Socialists, it's right there in the name" and also that "Nazi Germany is the inevitable end-state of all forms of Socialism, including Social Democracy (Liberalism). The Nazis were democratically elected, therefore we must be vigilant against and prevent elections which might elect Nazis (ie, democratic socialists)".
@jeff Nazism certainly did rise as a response to Communism, yes.
But progressives in the USA today - who look back to the economic reforms of Franklin Delano Roosevelt which saved America from the disaster of the Great Depression which was caused by unregulated capitalism - are not Bolsheviks.
Many people who vote Trump are doing so out of fear of a totally imaginary enemy - and are being manipulated via hateful memes in the same ways Germans were in the 1930s.
Do you have any specific people in mind when you say 'nobody likes these people'?
It's just that some of them may be my friends.
