I got reminded by @SlowRain commenting on my post that I need to re-ink my pen.
Hmmm which of these ink samples don’t feather badly... fosstodon.org/media/CMPCa7Y5xw

@ignitionigel
I'm curious. What's the advantage of using a syringe over just shoving the nib in the ink & sucking it up?

@SlowRain none for the filling usually, only for ink sample bottles to get the ink out easier as there’s only a few ml in them. I just squirt into the converter after flushing everything out with water and assemble and shake through.

Half of the ink samples are unusable in this pen due to poor flow or feathering, and I’m wondering if it’s because of the black lacquer on the nib. And paper maybe, it’s a Leuchtturm1917 dot grid notebook but they’re supposed to be ok. ✍️

@ignitionigel
I've heard mixed things about Leuchtturm1917 with . Try on Rhodia or Tomoe River to get a more standardized result.

@SlowRain yeah I have heard similar recently. I think the paper used to be better...
Rhodia next I’m thinking though, so it’s good to hear the recommendation 🤔🙂
I’ve used a Hobonichi which I think is Tomoe River? I struggled with the show-through, but it’s nice to write on.

@ignitionigel
I've never used Tomoe's 52gsm paper (white), but I've used their 68gsm paper (cream-colored). There is a bit of show-through, but not bad.
