My coworkers say they like Starbucks coffee because it has less caffeine than other coffeeshops. This doesn't sound legit. Is this an urban myth?

* seems roasting beans longer makes caffeine in beans lower

* seems more contact of water with beans means more caffeine

so....espresso least amount of caffeine because it touches the water for short amount of time.

@eliasg has pressure, though. About 9 bar. And some varieties of beans have higher amounts of caffeine than others. Also, lots of modern cafés are roasting lighter.

As for Starbucks, I think they were caught a few years ago messing with caffeine levels to make their more addictive.
