There should be chats for the book community on Mastodon. Like the Monthly Romance Readers Chat on twitter. It’s super fun and readers can find each other while finding new books.

I have trouble finding good romance that isn't full of nasty tropes.

@Smolgrumps @Altruest Running #sffbookclub has been pretty low stress for me. I basically just gather book recommendations from users on Mastodon, put up a poll with the Doodle app, and make basic announcements.
@Altruest looks more like a book club, but it did seem interesting enough for me.
@Smolgrumps you could set and irc channel, or set up a pleroma node (software mastodon compatible) that has a integrated chat only visible on desktop browsers and for the people of that server/node/instance n-n
