A strange-looking creature with a hairless head and neck; floppy, corrugated ears; a long, hanging upper lip; and a hairy body with a bushy tail. The Hugag has no knees - walking with long, unbending legs - meaning it can't lie down to sleep (or else it could never get up again). As a result, it has to sleep by leaning against trees. This, along with its tendency to strip the bark off trees with its upper lip, leaves many trees in the lumberwoods bare.

Fearsome Crittober Day 27: The Splintercat.

A feline creature known for ramming head-first into trees, breaking them and chasing out prey that live inside. This leaves the trees broken, withered husks. It also gives the Splintercat itself a constant headache, making it irritable and dangerous to be near.

It's almost the weekend, which means it's almost next week, which means it's almost Halloween - so what better time to read about the adventures of everyone's favorite shapeshifting Japanese-American disaster bisexual?

A small vermin resembling a tiny dog with stubby legs and the ears of a cat, the Teakettler always walks backwards and steam issues from its mouth. It gets its name from the loud whistling sound it makes, causing Lumberjacks to mistake it for a teakettle that isn’t really there. As they are shy creatures, Teakettlers are often heard, but rarely seen.

Fearsome Crittober Day 25: The Cactus Cat.

A feline resembling a bobcat in shape, other than its tail which branches out into multiple ends, and the fact that it’s covered in thorns instead of fur. The Cactus Cat is known to slash open cacti with its tail and drink the juice inside, becoming intoxicated. They are also known to sleep in hollowed out cacti.

"Has a variety of calls; a whine like a panther, a squeal like a young pig, and sometimes a roar like a bunch of cannon crackers at a shotgun wedding."

Fearsome Crittober Day 24 (I'll be out tomorrow): The Treesqueak.

A creature resembling a weasel, except for its hide, which is the colour and texture of tree bark, making it blend in perfectly when it wraps itself around a tree. Not usually aggressive to humans, except when going through a dry spell.

Fearsome Crittober Day 23: The Upland Trout.

A fish that fears the water, instead flying through the air like a bird, and making its nest in the tops of tall trees. The Upland Trout is noted for being especially tasty.

Fearsome Crittober Day 22: The Hidebehind.

A large man-eating beast that stalks the woods, it sneaks up behind loggers and captures them - but if one of its victims senses its approach and turns around, it quickly hides behind a nearby tree. As a result, the Hidebehind has rarely been seen, despite it being the cause of countless disappearances.

It carries off livestock and the occasional human, draining them of their blood. The creature is incredibly swift, and is known to make a sound like a locomotive’s whistle.
