so, mastodon users, how does a computer work? heres a helpful analogy i came up with a while ago:

the CPU (the BRAIN of the computer) takes data from the RAM (kinda like the computer's BRAIN) and stores it on the hard disk (which can be thought of as the BRAIN of the computer)

@jk the CPU works out whether to buy the milk or the chocolate, using the RAM, which is what it remembers about how much money it has and what it wanted five minutes ago, and then stores it for later as they realise they still need to decide whether they want the milk or the chocolate.
