*Sigh* Okay, so, lemme put something blunt out there. It's gonna piss some folks off, but honestly, I'm beyond giving a fuck.
Folks make things. Folks making things need money to continue making things. And it's been my experience that people *complaining* about methods of supporting people making things (Be that streams or otherwise) don't *use* those support methods.
Streams. Art. Reviews. Writing. All are *work* . Yes, at least some get "branding." But that's not a simple thing.
I, for example, have a Brand. And that brand is "I will *take my time* over reviews that *need me to take my time* , and I will be as honest and fair as I can."
That's it. That's the whole Brand. Does that lead to consistent output? No. I do my utmost to keep above a minimum in a month, and that's *it* .
With the art, my brand is "I draw the thing you want in my style(s)."
I'm not angry at those who *Can't* support, by the way. There is *no* blame there.
Personally, I've always been angry at the folks who look at it as "Begging."
Well, guess what, fucknuggets, I have something in common with you: I'm *very* fond of breathing. I'm *very* fond of feeling safe, without the constant awareness of how close I am (Even as a cis-white dude) to becoming homeless.
I *have* a home right now, but one, *one* misstep, here in the UK, fucks that all for a *minimum* of four weeks. Which, in money terms, is a *long* time.
There are folks afraid to put up their Patreons, or even start one, despite that being a method of being supported, because of this attitude, and the entitlement that surrounds it (YOU DIDN'T GIVE ME ENOUGH FOR MY DONATION!)
And I don't blame them, because there's that extra stress as *well* as knowing that the person *giving* you grief would, even without that grief, be unlikely to help. To those people, I extend an extra stretched middle digit, because they make shit that's already hard WORSE
