Russia must continue paying a high price for its actions.

We welcome the Council's adoption of the 16th Russia sanctions package.

The new measures target key sectors of the Russian economy, including energy, trade, transport, infrastructure, and financial services.

We will continue taking decisive action to ramp up pressure and ensure full implementation of our sanctions.

Our support to Ukraine is unflinching.

@EUCommission
We - the - should give Ukraine _everything_ they need to crush out of . What ever the cost.

, and already giving 1% of our GDB. 4 times more than rest of EU.

You are hiding behind our and Ukrainian backs! Yes Ukrainians fights for . Finland also secures 1340 km ruzzian borded.

Could rest of do your part also?

so it can us and

?

@Tapioseta @EUCommission Every time a European from a frugal country that fought tooth and nail to keep the EU underfinanced and vulnerble to both Russia and the US grandstands about their oooooh 1 percent spent on the biggest threat to their own security, we're going to have to act uinmpressed and check their voting record in the EU. Like the UK only paying back a TINY fraction of the billions London has laundered for Putin over the years, frugals still have a lot more to pay to breakeven.

@Mnemosinee @EUCommission

Well. Yeah. Finland could have supported stronger EU more all along.

But - it was partially 'cause us that there ever was west-Germany. We destroyed those some 3000 madeinUSA USSR tanks and killed 1M USSR soldiers. That could have taken whole Berlin. And Paris too..?

Nato without US has reserve of 1.9M soldiers. Finland has reserve of 0.9M soldiers...

Helsinki was never invaded. Berlin was. Paris too. And every European capitol part of the ww2.

So - money or..?

@Tapioseta @EUCommission Yes, yes, the US Army and the Resistance could have never liberated Paris without you.
Never invaded capital totally makes up for helping Germany gut the EU budget for defence during the Finnish presidency of the Council and generally voting in lockstep w/Germany to block the EU for a quarter of a centruy. Respect to Denmark for getting off the frugal kool-aid. It's actually doing its part to repay a TINY part of the Putin billions it laundered with Estonia via Danske.

@Mnemosinee @EUCommission

Well.

Main theather was always in the east front.

Normandy in 1944 was side kick when the war was already ending and nazies falling...

But - question now is do we like democracy? And rule based world order?

If we do. Europe should unite. Stop fighting among ourselves. And rearm. With european stuff.

ps. I think everyone still buys russian fossiles. Or other dictatorship.

pps. Also US can soon be really fasicst - and really agressive.

youtube.comBefore you continue to YouTube

@Tapioseta @EUCommission I'm not going to continue to YouTube, sorry (I don't help it sell me ads). You don't have to convince me of any of that. (Well, except maybe about History According to My Navel... I say this with love, I've lived and worked and traveled extensively in countries that adopt the Navel view of WWII, from the only one half-justified, Poland, to Bulgaria, Lithuania and everything in between. I can nod politely, I don't mind, but national egos are hilarious to me...)

@Mnemosinee @EUCommission

Yeah YT is that oligarc stuff.

Sarah Paine's lectures on geopolitics are nice and informative. Not perfect orcourse.

She has also written books.

That YT short was about European main theater in ww2 and US massive lend-lease to USSR.

@Mnemosinee @EUCommission

Are you from southern Europe?

People in Finland - with highest income tax of 57.3% - some times do wonder why we have to pay other (wealthy) nations low tax rates and corruption..?

But usually we pay anyway.

worldpopulationreview.com/coun

@Tapioseta @EUCommission Yes, I am lazy, have fabulous hair and skin, live on the beach and you personally pay for the free money transfer Ursula von der Leyen sends me every month, as demonstrated by worldpopulation dot com. In real life (Eurostat) meanwhile, Finland ranks 6th in tax-to-GDP (a lazy, half-tanned slob country is 1st) while lowest is that Southern dolce vita cliché, Ireland.

Southern Europeans don't owe you anything anymore than Ukrainians do.

@Mnemosinee @EUCommission

And yet again.

Question is. Do we - as europe and as (liberal) democracies want to survive?

Or do we let facist superpowers swallow us one by one?

Which one you prefer?

@Tapioseta @EUCommission Yes, everyone still buys fossils and we should decarbonise a lot faster and all of that costs a metric fuckton of money and if you're from one of the countries that has blocked the EU from doing those things, some for their ENTIRE history in the EU, get on with changing your ways and stop asking for EU budget cuts to sell to your domestic audience as a victory against lazy Irish and Bulgarians who pay low tax. Denmark does it without so much posturing.

@Mnemosinee @EUCommission

You know - Denmark have managed to get reasonable goverment with SDP leading.

We have this shittiest goverment maybe ever. (IMO - money men thought those previous 5 women doing wonderful job were the worst.)

And national egos are some what hilarious. I still didnt get from what perfect country u come from?

Nor more importantly - u wanna divide? Or unite friends of democracy?

Your writing feels agressive and provocative.

Maybe your culture just is like that..?

@Mnemosinee @EUCommission

I personally do know (believe) that Finland have benefitted from EU a lot more than we have paid. But russia (and now Trump?) would like destruction of EU.

Many swallow message of their info-operations.

Divide and conquer.

And oh boy europeans can fight each other...

Democracy is fragile.

So - do you wanna divide? Or what?

@Tapioseta @EUCommission I don't have to be united to anyone's spreading of false information. The good news is, next time you hear someone repeat the messages they've swallowed (sometimes pushed by the far right networks Russia has financed all across Europe, sometimes by simple mimetic stupidity) about Finland as the most taxed country in the EU paying for lazy Southern Europeans, you can correct them and ask them to locate Ireland on a map. A genuine Mastodon 🇪🇺 win.

@Mnemosinee @EUCommission

Yes that was good info thanks! :)

And that we are only 6. taxed total. France 1. was surprise...

@Tapioseta @EUCommission You're welcome, Eurostat is a fantastic tool, I wish more Europeans used it.

What about France screams low-tax jurisdiction, they're internationally famous for it. It's also the second biggest EU contributor and gets no rebate, unlike frugals. I find EU contributions debates so 2010s and it's all stupid and needs a rehaul anyway, but you've probably already heard plenty of mimetic stupidity about paying for Southerners: 2 of the Big 4 contributors are France and Italy.

@Mnemosinee @EUCommission

Just to inform you - most finns dont think France as southerner... (Else you get right - and u seem to be very informed). btw I have to DuckGo many your frases... :/ (Thought I was good in english...)

Though most of us do think that french habbit to burn cars is - exotic.

Some times it is watched with awe and wonder like: "What?!? People could protest like that??".

And then we continue business as usual.

@Mnemosinee @EUCommission

I still have one question.

You pay so much taxes. Even more than we in Finland.

Why you are not as happy or even happier than us?

Is it because our neighbors?

@Tapioseta @EUCommission I don't pay taxes in France, I have no "you" other than in a European sense. I'm European, I don't associate with any country's happiness or miserabilism, the concept just doesn't come into my personal happiness.

@Mnemosinee @EUCommission

Interesting. (Citizen?) of Europe..?

I meant that question as a joke.

And "you" as passive like "one" or "they" ( as it is often used in english isnt it?)

Any insight of Frence national happines index?

@Mnemosinee @EUCommission

BTW.

Never really answered. Would u prefer less - or more - aid to Ukraine?

More - or less - unity of Europe?

More - or less - democracy?

@Tapioseta @EUCommission Those are words. They mean nothing without giving the EU the tools it needs to act as a force that can defend liberal democracy: no more bullshit vetoes, no more tolerating kleptocrats because nobody wants to set a precedent and use the existing Art. 7 to freeze out a traitor, no more cost of running the EU the equivalent of a coffee cup per European so the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden and Austria can pretend they're in some Calvinist morality play. Words are easy.

@Mnemosinee @EUCommission

Agree!

Should atleast triple the EU budged to 3(!) coffee cups per EU citizen!

Well seriously - behavior of Hungary and Slovenia difficult to watch...

Defence is wath many understand. And now we seriously seem to underattack. And if US isnt attacking - it has maid quite clear it wont defend us either.

Surviving would be nice. Thriving better.

Sustainable wellbeing the best I know of.

Together all this is easier than alone...
