Every time I go back to any big silo closed network now, I so notice how "pushed" I am. How Twitter keeps trying to change back my feed to algorithm mode, vs chronological posts, no matter how many times I put it back to chronological.
Now that I see that it doesn't already exist, I am actively exploring setting up a new #Mastodon instance just focused on how the #Indieweb, #Fediverse #Mastodon #selfsovereign #identity (#SSI) and related #openweb efforts all mix. Or how they should but don't yet. The instance software itself could also be a place to experiment on how to do this better. This would be akin to how other instances are purely focused on Privacytools, or other subsets of tech.
Anyone interested in co-admin-ing?
So to the geek #Fediverse Hive mind: what is the best digital terrestrial broadcast antenna out there? Looking to create my own HD broadcast to home server PVR. Already have home server hardware and this: https://www.silicondust.com/product/hdhomerun-duo/
@hyperspacedev - does your app block #Gab servers? I hope so to support the values and health of the #fediverse https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2019/07/statement-on-gabs-fork-of-mastodon/
Here is where they think they will be at launch. Important that they still say there will be Apps supporting them in the App stores and a list is coming.
Interesting to see tech blogs starting to notice. Every Fediverse instance admin and every app user needs to be be sure to be ready.
"Gab is forking Mastodon and joining the fediverse" https://wedistribute.org/2019/05/gab-is-forking-mastodon-and-joining-the-fediverse/
Important that those who care about the health of the #fediverse keep watching the launch process of #Gab as they attempt to fork the #Mastodon code and launch July 4th - especially the larger Mastodon Instance and app makers. Here is their latest. cc: @Gargron @dansup @eurasierboy @tootapp @PixelFed
Open question to @gargon and/or #Mastodev and #Mastotalk: As the #Fediverse grows approaching 3/4th of a million of us, and individual instances grow to over 100,000 or more, shouldn't we be building in some redundancy to the overall system? Some automatic way that all that data isn't lost if one or more instance goes away for whatever reason....
