Here's a decent Science article about the impending start of the third of the LHC's five planned particle-physics-search runs. It has a lot of tantalizing (if you are on the side of misery and dispair) speculation the "Desert Scenario" has begun, but then it admits three solid candidates for finding new physics in the next LHC run after an entire article of saying the LHC has no chance to find new physics. https://www.science.org/content/article/ten-years-after-higgs-physicists-face-nightmare-finding-nothing-else
I've been building a Facebook Events style event organizing system for the Fediverse. It's based on the simple, open source, privacy-respecting event organizing tool https://gath.io
The attached video is a work-in-progress preview and shows compatibility with Mastodon. My hope is to get it working with lots of software, including stuff like Friendica that supports events and calendars.

i made a zine! It's about chronic illness and healthcare stuff, and full of collaged pain scales and patient intake forms and the like. https://mxmatched.itch.io/1-to-10-zine
@neauoire are we on the same train? The one arriving in about an hour with super party car #9? If so I’m hanging with a bunch of xoxo attendees at the front of #8
For people looking for an alternative to Facebook events that isn't spammy like evite and the like, I recommend checking out https://gath.io
It requires no login, basically you provide an email address, you get a unique editing URL, you make a nice looking event form, and people can RSVP there. Your event and all related info is deleted from their DB 2 weeks after the event is over.
@neauoire I spent way too much time getting nowhere in this game. Wish these types of games had a comeback.
@HereticSoul it’s good but the player base took a dip when it started to require Nintendo online.
I’m down to play though, do let me know if you get it
Small Instance Community Tools
I'm not releasing the code publicly yet but I've written a tool that lets ANY user of this instance direct message EVERY OTHER user of this instance through a proxy account (so people can block the proxy if they want).
Why would we want this? Friend Camp is a small (70 person, 40 active) invite-only instance of people who trust each other. We like to organize events (book clubs, etc) but not everyone sees everything. So this is for doing that kind of thing.
