Ella almost swallowed water in surprise, clutching at the brown, speckled fingers as thick as her arm. Within a few blinks, she was out of the water, gasping for air. Her catamaran had drifted further away than she realized.
"You okay there, human?" asked the concerned owner of the huge hand holding her afloat.

"Y-yeah, sounds good, thanks again," Ella gulped. Despite knowing how big mermaids were, nothing could've prepared her for the sheer awesomeness of meeting one in person.
"You're quite far out. How'd that happen?"
"Fell asleep," Ella said, sheepishly.
"No life-vest?"
"Was working on my tan," Ella practically baa'd.
"Hm... you've learned a lesson then... sorry, what's your name?"
"...Ella."
"Ella. I'm Borda. Next time, catch rays on the beach, yeah?"
"Gotcha," Ella promised, smitten.
