The gorgon slithered around the frightened, blind human child, squeezing him tightly.
"Your parents will never find you here. You will never feel their hands, or hear their voices ever again. I am too powerful to be vanquished by such worms."
The child clutched at the warm scales around him, feeling small reptilian tongues tickling his cheek.
His memory-nightmares were hard on both of them, but her reassuring words always calmed him.

I've *tried* to do that kind of thing before, but in making it microfiction you pulled it off before I could even think about it and left me genuinely stunned by my assumptions. Kudos.
