I don't care if Jeff Sessions is correctly interpreting the bible, because the state isn't supposed to run on biblical interpretations.

The Trump administration jails immigrant children and won't admit the press to investigate their living conditions. This is a recipe for disaster, and they know it. Trump has said he would have supported Japanese internment, and now we don't have to take him at his word.

That's why it's especially frustrating to see the media polling folks in China for their thoughts. They don't get the fuss, and of course they don't; they don't have the experience of being marginalized in their own countries.

At this rate, I'll be repeating it for the rest of my life, but *Asian Americans are different from Asians.* Our experiences differ, our struggles differ, and these kinds of equivocations aren't doing us any favors.

White Americans "dabbling" in Chinese culture do so from a place of power; they can return to seamlessly into the mainstream at any time. Chinese Americans conforming to American culture frequently do so out of vulnerability, so as not to expose themselves as foreigners/others who "refuse to assimilate."

In other words, white Americans like Keziah are making a choice to stand out. Asian Americans in Western clothes are being obligated to fit in.
