#childrenstv Adventure Bay and Pontypandy have similar #geography in that you can ski down a mountain or sunbathe on a beach in the vicinity of one town. Is there anywhere like that in real life?
@Merekat Hmm. Pontypandy is definitely by the sea, and Adventure Bay has whales in it.
@TheoEsc Sw ireland when global warming kills the Gulf Stream?
@TheoEsc other than glacier skiing somewhere like Whistler's Horstman Glacier which is an hour from the ocean, probably nowhere you can do it on the same day. I live 60km from two good ski hills and 1km from a beach on a lake that is a popular summer destination.
I've met people who skied and wakeboarded on the same day, but they wore wetsuits. Numerous wineries, vineyards, and mountain biking trails within a 15 minute ride. Golf for the old fogies who play that too.
@TheoEsc although I could have hit the beach the day I took my profile picture. Ski hill had been closed for 5-6 weeks by that point and I had to walk up the hill carrying my snowboard at the end of May. Lake water would have been a bit chilly still. Swimmable but barely so.
@TheoEsc My Hawaiian friends insist you can go skiing in the mountains in the morning then sunbathe on the beach in the afternoon.
Dunno how much driving needs to be done between the two though.
@TheoEsc if the beach is a lake?
