@Tutanota a more realistic analogy to mandatory backdoors is saying you wear a jacket that cannot be opened unless it's by law enforcement. But if LE can open your jacket so can the bloke trying to pickpocket you!

Standoff passive versions of these scanners are already being made, and it's only a matter of time before people will have such things in something the size of a CCTV camera for a price that would permit mass deployment.
