I just published the 4h episode of the Pi Router project meant to create a cheap, small and secure 4G LTE/Wifi router.

I show you how to display stats of your 4G LTE/Wifi router. I also show you how to connect the screen. We will use the Adafruit python library to create a boot screen and display stats while the router is running.

Feel to leave your remarks, comments and advices!

@U039b Loving it! ๐Ÿ˜

How did you go about discovering the stats url used in screen.py at

192.168.0.1/goform/goform_get_cmd_process?....

?

Was it in the dongle docs?

@upside
Hey!!
I discovered this URL by opening the network inspector of Firefox. In fact, the web interface provided by the dongle displays stats periodically. This information is not present in the dongle documentation.

If you want to go deeper in hacking the dongle, you can connect to it with telnet ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Thank you @adafruit ๐Ÿ˜ for providing a great library for to control a SSD1306 I2C OLED screen!

@U039b @adafruit Agree! I tried my own driver with an ATTiny and found out the SSD1306 is really touchy -- the adafruit libs really help

More generally, @adafruit libraries and hardware products are just awesome!

@U039b @adafruit I buy from them even if it's cheaper on eBay to support the engineers, gotta support my peeps

@upside @adafruit When I want excellent quality, I buy Adafruit products. But for disposable hardware like USB serial adapters, I buy them on eBay (5 pieces each time) because I know that I will burn them quickly ๐Ÿ˜‚

@U039b @adafruit ooooh yeah ๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿ”ฅ
