I've gotten a lot of reports of not being able to log into various instances with Tusky. It's MEANT to be able to log into any instance, so it's not by design. It also seems for a given instance some users will be able to log in and others can't so it's not even necessarily an instance-dependent bug. Right now I know of one SSL-handshake related bug but I don't know for sure the login issues are all a single bug yet.
@Vavassor yes, we discussed that with @wonderfall and @angristan , it seems to be a regression in android 7 :( on android 7.1 it works.
@Vavassor I've been able to log in at first try with mastodon.xyz, and didn't understand at first why everyone kept saying it's not possible...

@Vavassor I thought at first that I couldn't log in, but then I realized I forgot how to spell mastodon. Be nice if there were a way to select a server from the federation list.
@Vavassor pretty sure there's also some confusion about the @name@domain format
@Vavassor perhaps it effects older android devices when people configure strict and modern SSL configs.
