I read a mastodon criticism article and it's fine. But it ends on the note of basically "without a company to buy the code and save it—it'll never survive!". Like, capitalism is gonna swoop in and save the day. smh
It's just obvious in this guy's head the idea of something existing without the stability of a company is inconceivable, because companies are the ideal.
@Vavassor @yahananxie talking about that, a user asked me if you have a donation account, he want to donate for the development of tusky 😃
@daycode @yahananxie I haven't put anything up to donate. I want to, but I haven't sorted out what service to use. Also, if I'm getting money for the project, shouldn't I compensate contributors or how would that work?
@yahananxie @Vavassor you do the main job and initiate the app, so I don't want a part of donation, it have to be all yours (my opinion) 😋
@Vavassor Capitalism has become way more ingrained in our minds than we like to admit.
@Vavassor Yeah, imagine what would have happened to Linux if that company did not buy the code 😜
@Vavassor <sarcasm>don't you know that capitalism and companies are the only ones who can save the world and run all the people to a better future pursuing the general interest?</sarcasm>
@Vavassor Typical business mindset. I was asked once how can companies run a "free-to-play" online game. No matter which answer I gave, they can't handle it. The company closed down, the "free-to-play" is still kicking.
If they don't see money generation, it is always "doomed to fail". That's how they think.
