2 things I wonder about Mastodon.
1)What is the median age of users? How old are you (if you don't mind me asking)? Seems like there are a lot of young people. I'll be 42 next month.
2) Are there many moms here?
Me: Divorced & remarried mother of 2 boys(19 & 8). Self employed.

@Yukari 32, single, and my friend who started rich.gop is 33 and married

@CitySquirrel Hello! Didn't know about that instance. Interesting...

@Simon_Archipoff Bonjour :) My son goes to French immersion school but my French is terrible

@Yukari
compared to my Japanese your French must be awesome ^^

@Yukari

40, married, not a mom, but a dad. My son is 10.

@Yukari Indeed. He plays quite a bit of Minecraft and he also enjoys making his own Pokemon games. What is yours into?

@Spike Yup. Minecraft, Pokemon, Terraria, oh, and YouTube.

@Yukari Oh, absolutely YouTube. My son has his own channel called "Gaming With Calvin."

@Yukari I'll be 42 in August but my boys are only 3 (next week) and 6. We waited a long time for me to grow up before we had children.

@dmoonfire Yay we're same age :) Kids are so fun although they are so exhausting hahaha

@Yukari @dmoonfire Turns out that Moonfire and I are from the same city. A small city in Iowa. We met online. Both SF writers.

@DNA @Yukari

Well, not from. I live in his birth town.

I believe we were also in the same area during the high school years. (Or jr high school.)

And I go to a writing group with his in-law.

And we just met randomly online without knowing any of that.

@dmoonfire @Yukari Was that it? You lived in the Chicagoland area during high school too? My memory is going.

@DNA @Yukari Yeah, West Chicago for jr. high school and Mount Prospect for high school.

@Yukari I like to see children as a long-term investment for the good of society. :) But yeah, they are exhausting. My three year old is still "aggressively curious" which means every morning I come out to see what massive damage is done to my house or if knives have been placed like flowers on the floor.

#Introductions

@Yukari

@Yukari HAHAHA. Maybe. I mean, it's definitely better than restaurant or conbini bento.

@Yukari What do you do? I know you are freelance, but anything specific?

@DNA I have a small biz to help Japanese international students, but I do other stuff like translation, consulting etc

@Yukari

i'm a 24-yearold unmarried white male who works in the tech industry with no children, clearly i represent a very marginalized piece of the internet, so feel free to ask me anything you're curious about!

haha i'm being sarcastic, but i come from a small town and a small world and i'm trying to open my eyes more and appreciate everyone i've met on mastodon so far.

@biox Thank you for the intro :) What part of the world do you live in? I'm from Japan but I live in Canada.

@Yukari i'm from Minnesota in the united states! i have a friend in Japan right now, i'd love to visit sometime - i've always thought that the culture there is beautiful. same with Russia!

what brought you over to Canada, and do you ever miss Japan?

@biox I met my ex husband in Japan - he was Canadian, so we moved here to raise our kids. I got divorced but stayed here for the kids and I like it here a lot. I miss Japan all the time! But pretty sure I don't want to/can't live there

@Yukari especially with the kids! i live very close to Canada and have never been to it, is there a part of it you'd recommend visiting? i was thinking about going to toronto maybe or something?

@biox Come to BC - weather is much nicer than Toronto! I live in Victoria BC.

@Yukari thanks for the recommendation!

@y6nH Oops you're dad. My bad. Are you a single dad???

@Yukari No problem! I'm not single, but not married either.
