sorry 4 the selfies i just felt cute as hell 2day
Today was #PrideMarch in the Philippines! It was upper middle class, as expected. But we marched with some pals who were more for intersectionality. Their signs read:
“WORKERS AND GAYS OPPRESSED UNDER CAPITALISM”
“WORKERS SUPPORT LGBT+”
“DICK, not a DICTATOR”
“GAYS AND LESBIANS, IRRITATED WITH FASCISM”
I’m gonna be so pissed if/when humanity eventually evolves to not grow wisdom teeth at all. I’m gonna be so fucking pissed.
me in high school: i will never friend my teachers on social media bc i complain about them
me in the first half of college: oh this prof’s my pal so i guess we can friend him but i’ll keep him out of my post loop
me now: [accepts all my professors on social media and posts] hey remember that one time [prof’s name] made us all write entire paragraphs on powerpoint, what the fuck right
then again working for an independent consultant brings a more intense number and variety of project involvements bc my boss just takes so much work and interest in things
me, updating my CV for a job application after only four (4) months of working: this looks quite impressive
Living on the main road means dealing with the smell of cockroaches that gets stirred up with the dust of cars zooming by. Ugh. So nasty. I want to live in the suburbs.
Ya girl just graduated from university with a bachelor’s degree in sociology
I don’t know if it’s just me being an emotional mess or the alcohol, but I’m currently sat in my bathroom crying my eyes out while writing a short thing on the professors who changed my life in my undergrad. A good teacher is truly something else. I feel so blessed that my department was full of them. Sociology in a third world country is truly something else.
Graduation’s a fucking mess. Here’s photographic evidence of that.
An elderly family member’s birthday means MORE elderly people, and now they’re watching the news downstairs, so obviously I’m sat upstairs away from them, where I do not have to deal with their defense and support of a murderous, anti-poor dictator
It’s my grandma’s sister’s birthday today and at her birthday dinner my family members keep asking for photos with me since I’m officially graduating with Latin honors (MCL) from my university. The best thing from all of that has to be I’ll be getting an entire free cake on the day of my graduation from my godfather, and all the free meals from graduation promos at restaurants
my grandmother who lives in the US called me today and towards the end of our conversation told me she’ll send me money to invest in something. my brain automatically went “invest??? That I Word??? you truly are an expected adult now”
I live outside the Western hemisphere (SEA represent), so most of the updates I get is passive consumption of information via less conservative Instagram posts and videos as well as idle browsing elsewhere online.
Last time I checked, high-ranking positions in workplaces valued knowledge and fluency in multiple languages. But sure, by all means, claim that immigrants are “stupid” and “animals” despite the fact that they’ve probably lived in more countries than you have, or are more knowledgeable on the world at the very least compared to you.
I just read about a Dunkin Donuts store in Baltimore that posted a notice asking customers to report employees who spoke in any other language apart from English.
America r u ok? You’re putting bilinguals’ necks on the line now. That’s practically getting rid of people who are more (culturally) experienced than its white population.
Some photos of the places we visited in Japan!
My favorite part of the trip was finally slowly understanding how their train system works. My country’s trains are quite shitty and inadequate, so anything more complex than a terminal-to-terminal transfer is insane for me.
After a week’s sojourn in Japan + 4 days of idleness because of preps and the current storm here in the Philippines, I’ve started to get back to work today.
Now, I don’t know if it’s the coffee or the workaholic in me kicking in, but there’s a weird rush to it. I love doing research.
Visited my very first university campus today to accompany my brother during reg. He passed the same university and campus I did 5 years ago. Today, the start of the rainy season claims Mt. Makiling in fog. I bought my sablay (UP’s traditional graduation sash embroidered with precolonial Filipino symbols) here, too, to symbolically end things where they began.
I only spent a year in UP Los Baños but it has left its mark on me, for sure. Diliman wasn’t the same. I miss Laguna’s quiet and warmth.
The mobile version of “home is where the wifi is” (where your phone automatically connects to the wifi in a place) is when you get in someone’s car and the bluetooth automatically pairs the car with your phone so you can just play your music immediately
MY PROFESSOR AND I ARE STARTING AN ANARCHIST READING GROUP!!!
