right fucking now is the best time and possibly our last chance to drive a stake into the heart of capitalism, boost if you agree

@acetone_kitten
I'll fave, but I won't boost, because I personally suspect if we don't do this now, what will happen is capitalism will continue to slide into late-Soviet-grade dysfunctional madness. How could *this* shit POSSIBLY stabilize, seriously?!

A lot more people will suffer, though, and whatever system we pull from the ruins will be that much more capitalist-PTSD prone, so I'm all for learning how to general strike REAL FAST and killing the beast right now...

@zebratron2084 i agree, nothing is stable. when i say "last chance" i mean that this is probably our last chance ecologically and perhaps socially. the forces of reaction are moving fast too - not that any proposed oppressive reactionary regime is likely to be stable either, this one certainly isn't.

@acetone_kitten That's a good point, there are other timers ticking and not so much time on them...

@Witchsmeller pretty much find a local anticapitalist group and start organizing the working class. i'm knocking on doors for an affordable housing initiative a couple nights a week. it's hard and a slog but also rewarding and powerful. i mean - you find like minded people and you do what you can do to mobilize people. there's books on what that looks like.

@acetone_kitten I only have one question... How can I be of service in accomplishing this goal?

@ymir join a radical anticapitalist organization, even if you don't agree with everything they believe, and give yr time and energy to any projects they're doing that look worthwhile.

@acetone_kitten done, lol. I am often conflicted, because I don't think the state can be dismantled by armed insurrection due to its overwhelming arsenal of weapons and jarheads that have no problem torpedoing their bodies into harms way. So I am always thinking about tactics. I think we need to have some broader discussions about effective tactics of all kind. I do believe street confrontation is useful, but we need to be using our energy fighting battles we can win.

@ymir i think the state can definitely be dismantled by armed insurrection - not least because soldiers are not automatons, they're political beings like the rest of us. but i definitely think careful thought about tactics is very much in order. i focus on organizing, just doing the slow boring stuff. knocking on doors. having conversations with liberals that lead them to radical conclusions, creating a force that can win concessions. showing the working class its power

@acetone_kitten I haven't met too many jarheads capable of critical thinking, which is probably what leads them to become a jarhead in the first place. I've attempted to bridge the divide with people and decided my friends idea of putting together community services to feed, clothe and house people in need is a much more worthy cause. Most people are really stubborn by the time they are in their 20's. You've got to expose them to ideas when they are young and open to it.

@ymir yeah in some ways the only thing i'm super hopeful about is that so many young people see the status quo as a failure or a crime. anyway good luck with the community services, i really like that idea, and would like to hear where it goes.

@acetone_kitten A friend of mine had a great idea for community level activism that helps people, which would be twofold. It would help people of course, but it would make it harder for the state to turn your community against you when for example, windows get smashed during protests. I think this is one aspect of our current movement that is being neglected. But I have lots of other ideas about strategies going forward. We have fewer resources, so we have to be efficient.

@ymir i hope you can carry out that idea, if it doesn't work, at least you have data and experience.
