Looking to get back into reading for pleasure. Can anyone recommend me a queer female lead fiction. Something fun and exciting.
Magic realism/sci-fi/fantasy it's all good. Just something fun, romantic and engaging. Kink romance is always a plus!
@irina oh that lools really good!
@ada Romancing the Inventor by Gail Carriger https://gailcarriger.com/books/romancing-the-inventor/
@imani bought! It looks so fun!
@imani just finishwd reading, thanks for the recommendation, I loved it!! I am a total sucker for romance between people of different station!!
@ada I'm currently reading Hunger Makes The Wolf by @katsudonburi, who is genuinely awesome. It's a good fun read, and I think it fits most (if maybe not quite all) your criteria. 🙂
@ada Have you read Becky Chambers?
@starbreaker i have not.
Then you might like these:
- The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet
- A Closed and Common Orbit
Emphasis is on characterization rather than plot.
Also, DERELICT by Lisa Cohen (L. J. Cohen) , though I don't know if Ro really is queer or just starved for affection.
@ada
Torrey Peters - Infect Your Friends and Loved Ones
@ada
Necrotech and Nanoshock by @kacealexander - soooo great!
@ada Borderline by Mishell Baker (first in a series I believe) has a bi protag, not sure how much romance is in it though!
@ada _Trouble and Her Friends_ or indeed most of Melissa Scott's work. And she's been writing for a while so there's a deep backlist. Not all queer female specifically, all queer in some way I think. Always fun.
@ada #AnaMardoll writes fantasy romance that is queer, polyam, & non-binary inclusive!
#PoisonKiss and #SurvivalRout are the ones in that series that’re out so far, and I really loved both. First has a female lead, and the second has one female & one male POV char.
Echoing recommendations for #AnnLeckie’s #ImperialRaadch trilogy. A genderfree culture interacting w cultures that do gender (trying their best to properly use gendered vocabulary in other languages) + AI = 😍
@ada Daughter of Mystery by Heather Rose Jones and its sequels? Fantasy of manners set in early 19th century, magic, romance, swashbuckling.
