A friend is considering getting a Librem 5 phone and I was just curious what folks here think about it. I find it very curious that they push Matrix as a mobile messenger, doesn't it still use up tons of data and is therefore useless for mobile unless you have an unlimited data plan? Wouldn't it be much more user-friendly if they worked on a mobile Jabber client such as Conversations on Android?
@natanji In theory you should be able to use for example Pidgin on your Librem 5. I'm definitely planning on trying that :)

@adrianheine Pidgin isn't optimized for mobile usage though. Messages will most probably get lost since it doesn't support relevant XEPs.
