@aeva Maybe something less extreme, like ibuprofen or torsilax.

@aeva I roll up a towel, then form it into an ∩ shape and place my head into that, face down (so the towel gives me enough space to breathe without turning my head or having to hold it up).
This is also the best way to get a massage if you don't have a proper massage table with a cutout.

@aeva If it is tight discs, you have to keep moving the neck (slowly), even though it hurts. Staying still just makes it worse. Moving fixes it, though it can take hours :-(

@TomF pretty sure i just need someone to give me a really good neck massage, but my friend who gives amazing neck massages moved away.
alternatively maybe i just need to be dismantled, and have all my parts be carefully cleaned before putting me back together again

I can recommend a non-binary person who does massage. But you'd need someone to tell you what stretches to do. (I feel like "occupational therapist" might be the word for the relevant specialty there...?)

the electric hot pad is a blessing the neck pain has calmed down enough that it only hurts about the same as my back, wrists, and some horrible nerve in one of my legs
