Reclaiming RSS

To escape censorship by Big Social, all web sites and blogs should implement this one trick.

@aeveltstra just a note that I'm not the author, but I definitely support the message :)

@aeveltstra @yogthos Really big fan of reading my #RSS (and #Atom) subscriptions with #NewsBlur - #opensource, can be #selfhosted, and let you curate your own subscriptions by #ranking feeds, authors, tags and topics in a hierarchical way. As it should be.

Also, remember when #Facebook still let you follow someone via RSS and chat with them via #XMPP? Sigh

@michel_slm @aeveltstra @yogthos you're the only one person I know beside myself who uses NewsBlur :-)

@aeveltstra @yogthos I use RSS all the time. I use it on my phone. It syncs up when I gage an internet connection, grabs me all the new posts from subreddits I subscribed to and then I can read Reddit offline on the train, for example. At home, RSS makes it possible for me to not have to sign in to Google without losing important luxuries. I also don't even watch youtube via youtube anymore. I subscribe to all my favourite channels via RSS, and I copy/paste the URLs to videos I want to watcb to a txt file, then a shell script uses youtube-dl to fetch my videos. No buffering, no spyware and in the highest quality possible.
