uspol police

if we were to start rolling out the abolition of the police, I'm curious what all the ex-cops would do?? sociopaths don't just disappear into the ether. if you look at the history of the reconstruction era, there was such a huge backlash from racists that they seeded themselves in revisionist history books, propaganda, cultural displays, and, well, the police. there needs to be some way to prevent this from happening again in a new form

i must remember next time to disable replies when i post porn to the birdsite, i have too many followers there to control what kind of weirdness gets posted under my art

if protests were spread throughout the city instead of concentrated in downtown areas, would it prevent infection while also being more difficult for cops to cover that much ground? or is this a dumb idea

This is what I get for sitting on my ass on this comic instead of pushing it out. ToT I'm so bad about this stuff...

For a couple years now I had been planning to make a fantasy comic about a prince and a knight where the end message is that the monarchy and knights/military are terrible (a sort of fantasy ACAB), but the point isn't made until the middle of the story. But since more people are aware of police abolition I'm having second thoughts. Sometimes people don't have the patience to wait for turned tables

only just now realized I spelled Ursula Le Guin incorrectly u.u

Similarly, a quote from Ursula Le Quin: “We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings." had me thinking about how much effort must have been needed to end monarchies. But it still happened, so we needn't think any social injustice can't be ended.

thinking a conversation I had with a late old friend who grew up in the 50's and 60's. There were protests about Eric Garner in Oakland, a city that had already protested Oscar Grant and countless other murders of unarmed black ppl. And he said "I'm surprised how mellow people are about this"
and I was confused, like "huh? people are angry. that's why they're protesting" but he asserted that they weren't angry enough

i mean not VERY difficult, but it's just weird. And the word "sexuality" can also refer to both relationship orientations but also overall "sexual desire" and stuff

Show thread

why does the english word "sex" refer to both a personal category and also the act of fucking? I feel like this makes conversations about sex, gender, sexuality, etc very difficult.

there's a lot of anti-black racism among asians, but I'm heartened when I do see activism among AsAm and Asians. The optimist in me feels that as our cultures make bridges on social media that the future will get better, not worse.

reddit, social justice ramblings

on the rare occasion that i've seen comments by ex-racists, ex-nazis, ex-incels, etc. it's unclear how they got pulled out of it, but certainly the way they were pulled in was by getting drunk on the idea that they are the REAL victims of inequality, and that they were fighting for some kind of retribution
