[on my death bed] We named it “Scooter’s” after reviewing a list of options including “Scooter’s.”

I met my partner on Twitter. As a Small Town Gay, Twitter helped me feel connected to the LGBT+ community. It helped me come to terms with and accept who I am. So I’m not exulting at its purchase by capitalism’s final boss. I hope that, whatever comes next, queer people still have that chance to connect, somewhere 🏳️‍🌈✨

We got our cats early last year. They are brothers and often sleep the same way they did when they were kittens. #caturday

So like... Music is a metric space, right? In that you can generally say by feel that two songs are more or less similar to each other (and the usual triangle inequality). What... What is the *shape* of musical space? How many dimensions? Is the metric euclidean? Manhattanesque? Nonlinear? Could you infer properties of the space by asking a bunch of people to give similarity rankings for a bunch of pairs of songs, and doing some sort of error-minimizing dimensionality reduction?

For real like Bandcamp is exactly the kind of service we *hoped* the internet would give us: “hey, people make things, they set their own price inc. free, we provide the storefront, you buy it and the money goes to the creator, you get it in a DRM-free format and can play it however you want, we just make money to keep going & improving and aren’t a VC-funded nightmare company of rampant reckless growth that will do something nightmarish and implode.”

We need more media platforms like that.

La noticia de la migración a Mastodon en TVE, con el manido "los extremos se tocan".

sprinting through the dead city toward a partially-collapsed Tower Bridge as forty proboscis monkeys with gongs continue their deafening pursuit and the sky boils like red cabbage and i trip over hub caps and empty CD jewel cases and the gravel inside my boots digs into my feet and off in the distance i keep catching glimpses of an enormous airship called Computer

"i use linux as my operating system," i state proudly to the unkempt, bearded man. he swivels around in his desk chair with a devilish gleam in his eyes, ready to mansplain with extreme precision.
"actually," he says with a grin, "linux is just the kernel. you use GNU+linux."
i don't miss a beat and reply with a smirk, "i use alpine, a distro that doesn't include the GNU coreutils, or any other GNU code. it's linux, but it's not GNU+linux."

the smile quickly drops from the man's face. his body begins convulsing and he foams at the mouth as he drop to the floor with a sickly thud. as he writhes around he screams "I-IT WAS COMPILED WITH GCC! THAT MEANS IT'S STILL GNU!"
coolly, i reply "if windows was compiled with gcc, would that make it GNU?" i interrupt his response with "and work is being made on the kernel to make it more compiler-agnostic. even if you were correct, you won't be for long."

with a sickly wheeze, the last of the man's life is ejected from his body. he lies on the floor, cold and limp. i've womansplained him to death.
