Thanks for that brillant metaphor!
@andrej it's a good one.
@andrej But it's still too nice. Actually, sidewalks are full of parked scooters, motorbikes, bikes, and even cars.
@im @andrej I've encountered bikers who drive on the sidewalk when there's a jam. When I block their way they're cocky and shameless enough to honk.
Cities should ban privately owned cars. Maybe except intercity roads. Then we'd have a lot of room to organise personal transport and pedestrians without cramming people into sidewalks.
@andrej credit the artist 😡
@andrej Damn, that's evocative
@andrej
Repeat
diese Propaganda der Autoindustrie geht ja voll nach hinten los
@andrej
@paulakreuzer
...and this picture doesn't even include parking lots...
@andrej in my city those holes would be just about everywhere!!
@andrej
I first saw it as a way to describe the dangers of traffic. How dangerous it is to cross a street or walk on the sidewalk this close to the heavy and powerful vehicles steered by randos.
@andrej
Not that I'm a proponent of self driving cars. Even though a single vehicle can make a lot of damage, it's nothing compared to what you can do with a whole fleet.
I saw this drawing a few years ago, but it resonates so much more with me now. I saw it again today on reddit europe.
