Alright, pushed/merged a rewrite of the XML rendering code for #Mastodon. It now uses Ox instead of Nokogiri and doesn't load a template. This should reflect on Atom feed loading times but also background jobs that involve sending Atom payloads to other instances. Here I go to sleep.
Hmm. Self-hosted mastodon instance as micro-/link- blog. 500 chars is plenty for that. Something else for the tootdo list.
Starting to think about the flexibility in federated social. And also the scaling challenges. It's not just your node(s) you have to worry about, it's what you're taking to/from other nodes too.
On a social level, being able to have different aspects of "me" is interesting too.
E.g., mastodon.social me: hipster "before it was big" ;-). Work.domain me: serious professional. :-| project.domain me: collaborative core
