(sidebar on Keybase and Debian)
Debian is more than just a Linux distro. Debian is "The Universal Operating System", meaning that the project tries to integrate every piece of free software worth having. Which means that when something isn't in Debian it's either not free, not worth having, or designed so poorly it's not worth the trouble trying to make it play nice with the rest of the system.
This is why "debian wnpp <name>" is my first litmus test for all of the above. In this case it turned up https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=792916 which among other things links to http://anarc.at/blog/2016-03-10-keybase/. I am NOT installing software that touches my private keys on my laptop!
That said, Keybase the identity clearing house provides a useful service, too bad there's so few free software hackers proficient with crypto to implement a free clone we could all use instead.
