China just launched another ambitious lunar mission. Is NASA falling behind?
China is going. NASA is talking about going. What gives?
@arstechnica I mean, going to the moon is neat and all, but there's nothing there.
That's probably the answer to "what gives?"
@arstechnica America is eating itself and there is no profit to be made this quarter by going to the Moon. The shareholders won't allow it.

Pretty simple, they want the high ground.
Well NASA doesn't really do "space" anymore, they just do "give our tax money to Elon" now. R.I.P. NASA.
@arstechnica Going to the moon for the first time is so 1960s, the US is working on manned missions to Mars.
The US is struggling on pulling off a sample return mission to Mars.
Being able to do that is necessary before you can even consider crewed flights to Mars.

@arstechnica it’s hard to leave earth orbit encumbered with the heavy weight of profit first contractors and bribe taking politicians hanging onto every part.
@arstechnica China is doing what NASA did in 1969
Where are the Chinese missions to visit asteroids, put rovers on Mars, photograph Pluto or leave our solar system?
@arstechnica Congess needs to stop cutting NASA's budget.
@arstechnica
America has already fallen behind in pretty much every regard. When it comes to technology.
