My fellow software engineer,
It's the year 2024.
Please store your #Linux #desktop application configurations ONLY in `$XDG_CONFIG_HOME`.
NOT in `$HOME` or other non-standard or obsolete places.
May #FreeDesktop be your guide.
@bmaxv If you do, I'll always remember you as my hero
I'm not sure why but I have yet to see an easily consumable standard/specification, incl. FreeDesktop's
@dan Very cool, indeed! Thanks for sharing
@ParetoOptimalDev @dan Ah Must have been something introduced in 29.x. Thanks for the hint.
@bahmanm `~/.emacs.d` can be `$XDG_CONFIG_HOME/emacs` at least
@CryogenicIce9 Word.
My wildest fantasy though is `$ emacs --config-dir PATH/TO/emacs.d`
