It’s been a struggle to get close to my coworkers. Most don’t speak much English at all and I have to maintain relations in what Japanese I know (Advanced-Intermediate level, I’d guess).

Yesterday a coworker saw that I got a new keyboard case for my iPad and pointed it out. It was a nice reminder that even though I’m not close to my coworkers as I would be in the States, some people take stock in who I am and what I like. I matter. #friendship #international #expat

Surprised my SO this morning by waking up after her and heading to the gym close to where she does her own training. We haven’t had many mutual days off (I do shift work and she has a set training schedule) so I wanted to make an effort to both make the most of today before I have work while also being closer to her and more of a part of her day too.

I’ve been through a lot in the past 6+ years but this relationship (going on 8 months soon) is definitely right for me. #love #relationships

I’m enjoying the cleanliness and relative ease of finding people on Mastodon. It seems like either lots of real people just posting about their lives or niche content curators sharing what they love. Kinda of like, you know, a fun social network! #kudos #mastodon

I’m constantly reminded that I’m just not from here and I’ll never truly belong. It’s a big hill to climb but I have pretty good shoes for it.
