"#Finland is again ranked the #happiest country in the world. The #US falls to its lowest-ever position"
None of this is surprising nor in doubt
I mainly post this to note that the #AP thinks the exemplary image of #Finnish #happiness consists of running around in your swimwear on a grey and gloomy day
I want to make a joke... but maybe that's really the secret? (/s)
@benroyce “Happiness isn’t just about wealth or growth — it’s about trust, connection and knowing people have your back,” said Jon Clifton, the CEO of Gallup. “If we want stronger communities and economies, we must invest in what truly matters: each other.”
The sad thing is, that the current leadership of the US measures success of a country solely on how much financial wealth they have and how much power.
For to cherish the happiness of ones people, one has to have empathy and as the first LadyBoyToy put it: they see empathy as a weakness.
The only goal of an economy and wealth should be meeting the peoples needs in order for them to live a happy and healthy life.
But it mutated into a self serving circle of wanting more wealth.
@benroyce Winter bathing (probably what is pictured) does release a huge amount of endorphins...
(Wim Hof enters the chat}
@benroyce A local news television channel tried to argue this morning that the USA should be at least Top 10.
because why improve and thus move up the ranking
just cheat on the ranking methodology
the usa should improve its ranking on the World Happiness Report 2025 by donating $10 million to the World Happiness Report
(/sarcasm, but this is the actual thinking of many assholes, as you note)
@benroyce The Finns love their saunas, so this does not surprise me.
Thing about grey weather is that you tend not to be crowded out when you're in it. So most activities are reasonably calm and relaxing.
(Whereas sunny weather locally attracts crowds of as many as ten per beach-mile. Sometimes. Anecdotally.)
