I suppose I have to cut the stupid grass. I'll never understand people who actually enjoy spending hours tending to their yards.

Got my teenager cutting the rest of the yard now. (I did the difficult parts.) He thinks it’s pretty fun to be able to drive the lawnmower.

@bigzaphod I hate dealing with grass. When I have time it rains and when I’m working it’s dry. So hope this weekend it’s dry for an hour at least to cut mine. Planning on getting ride of it this year. I dislike it so much.

@DarkWraithLord I'm honestly tempted to get some native grass seeds and sprinkle them everywhere and let it be. I don't have any immediate neighbors, but it would be highly unusual to do that here to say the least.

@bigzaphod I'm so sad that I cannot cut ours ;) my wife is sleeping after last nights shift and I *would* disturb her.

Damn, I just looked at the forecast. 55% chance of rain overnight on Sunday night, with 2mm anticipated. Game over man, GAME OVER!

@bigzaphod You should do a nice desert landscape with rocks like I have.

ps I live in the desert

@Ronnie that’d be kind of hilarious in Iowa. Would be quite a trick to keep a cactus alive over winter.

@bigzaphod I had a big house with a big yard when I lived in Oklahoma and I absolutely *hated* lawn maintenance. Not only did it take ungodly amounts of water to keep the grass green, I spent hours every weekend mowing and trimming.

Here in CA, I have a condo/townhome with NO lawn, but right next to a public park, and I love it. Want to touch grass? It’s right next door, and it’s already mowed.

@bigzaphod I know that didn’t help your situation. For big lawns, you might consider setting aside some of the space for landscaping where you can feature plants that you don’t have to mow. At least you’ll have to mow *less* that way…

@drahardja I have an acre in Iowa with quite a few trees to cut around. At least I never have to water it.

@bigzaphod we ripped all of ours out and California paid us to do it! Now no more maintenance, lower water bills, and a nice chunk of change in my pocket (which got spent instantly on the replacement xeriscape, of course)
