Today's long run provided lots of opportunity to be passed really closely by cyclists, which annoys me the way that cars passing too close bothers me when I'm biking. I'm used to being smaller than most everyone but the element of speed, or speed differential, makes it really alarming. Can't wait for it to be warm enough to go out when early when it's less crowded.

@bradamant Eek. But will the cyclists also be up earlier once it's warmer out? Good job getting the run done.

@emily Thanks! It was a nice day for running. I think some of the conflict is brought about by the sheer number of people out (many of the close call occurred near people strolling 2-3 across, or when I was trying to pass a slower runner and a runner and a biker were both coming towards us, etc.). I think when it's quieter they can and more often do give me some space. There's also a tradition observed by about 10% of cyclists of calling out "on yer left!" which is helpful. I do it!

@bradamant Yeah, I definitely appreciate the "on yer left"-ers.

@bradamant Sometimes I'll be birding at a park, walking slowly trying to find birds, and a cyclist will suddenly zoom by right next to me. I never heard them, and if I had taken a step toward the middle of the path without looking (as I might when dazzled by a bird), then, wham.

@BobTarte I often worry about toddlers and dogs on my local trail. It irks me because I run *and* bike and take care when biking not to do things that annoy me when I'm the runner.
