I stumbled across this while wandering around Toronto a few weeks ago. It's an alley-facing garage not visible to the main street, so it was like finding an a real life Easter egg in the city (Achievement Unlocked: Cool Thing in Alley 🏆 ).
Clearly a work of love, I'm impressed that the artist took the time to tape it out, use the right colours (even the ghosts!), start with cherries, etc. Good work, anonymous nerdy person with a paintbrush!
Some twitter v. Mastodon tips for all of the lovely new tooters:
When you like a tweet on twitter, a swarm of AIs spin into action, analysing every aspect of the tweet and trying so desperately to find the matching tweet to show you next that will keep you scrolling, lest their masters decommission them in favor of a new version.
When you fave a toot on Mastodon, there aren't any AIs; you just made another human being across the world feel nice.
Rules for a game I GM:
no sexism, racism, homo or transphobia, in or out of character
> minor exception for mild, funny, in-game-race-ism (so you can say "man, I hate orcs", but you can't have your character say "man, I hate [real life race]")
RP is more important than rules. My job as GM is to keep people having fun TOGETHER, which might mean bending rules occasionally. Do not "well, actually" anyone at the table.
It is not about you, singular, but rather you, collectively. Play like that.
HOW TO USE MASTODON, AN EASY GUIDE:
1. see something nice when going about your day
2. write about it
3. revel in the fact that we are all just people
4. give emotional support and validation to others who write about that nice thing they saw today
So, I'm new here and followed a giant group of people tonight, but haven't figured out what I'm doing here yet. I know I want to connect with programmers / sysadmins / network people, and also socialists / anarchists / communists ... and I want to boost LGBTQ+/feminist stuff.
Also, interested in connecting with NYC/Queens/Brooklyn folks.
But I worry I'm filled with too much optimism and not enough bootstraps.
Plato’s cave but for twitter and the sunlight is not being on twitter
I'm a craft mapper. Irish🇮🇪 living in Germany🇩🇪. I work for an #OpenStreetMap company. I've always liked maps, and love #OSM's idea of us making our maps. I like that OSM isn't a corporate run thing, it's a community, self-owned thing. This is *our* map (database).
I have lots of ideas for non-map based things we can do with OSM, but rarely finish things 😉
I like armchair mapping to improve data quality, and surveying when I'm somewhere new

I know that Mastodon can be a little confusing at first. But don't worry, it's great and not that complicated to use! I'm sure you'll catch up in no time.
That being said, it doesn't dispense regular users like me to give you some tips. So here we go!
I finally had some time to update my blog!
