Every time I check the status of my Gemini order, I get a little more disappointed with Planet Computers.

For the entire month of April the checker said "Your unit went in to production in April and will be delivered in May.

This database is updated weekly. Last update April 7th"

Now it says "You unit starts production 2 May and will be delivered towards the end of May.

We will update the database on a weekly bases.
Database last updated: 2nd May 2018"

That's so many lies!

They didn't produce my order in April if they are producing it in May. They won't update the database weekly, they barely update it monthly. They can't possibly deliver the thing by the end of May if they haven't shipped it yet.

At best, I'll get it in early June.

At this rate, though, I'm wondering if I'll ever get mine.

@ajroach42 for what it's worth, i know they're shipping some because i've had mine for something like a month.

i haven't been able to _use_ it yet, mind, but at least it exists as a physical object in my possession.

@brennen Is there a problem with the device preventing you from using it, or is it just a time thing?

@ajroach42 so far i've invested a couple afternoons trying to get it talking to my mobile provider (verizon, for whom my contempt & loathing after a decade as a customer is essentially boundless), who are holding the number i've had for my entire adult life hostage (did i mention contempt & loathing), and had no luck.

other people report that it's possible, but the best i could get out of an existing SIM was text messages, no voice or data.

@ajroach42 i'll probably make another effort to switch providers one of these days, but we've been dealing with a family member's illness and a string of other crises large and small, so i just haven't had the energy to really devote to it.
