Mastodon newbie protip: don't click the "remote follow" button. Just copy the user's URL and paste it into the search bar of your home instance, then click the follow button (the little icon of a person with a "+" on it).
Not only is "remote follow" slower and more awkward; it's a potential security risk, because a malicious instance could trick you into giving them your password (if you're not paying attention to the URL bar).

Yes, there are languages other than english on the federated timeline, quel horreur!!. This is a feature, not a bug. Insisting that it is only english is horrible for more reasons than I have space to talk about here.
If you do want to suggest something to get a timeline where you can read all the posts don't be a racist dickbag while you do it.
Example: asking for language tags on toots may actually be useful, saying something about escaping the rice and sushi is fucking terrible

What is the purpose of TootBot and its random/not-so-random Toot!, toot! etc.
I've been assuming (like the pineapples) it was for fun or an inside joke I didn't get as I'm new.
Then... I started overthinking it and now wondering if it has a super smart purpose that just looks like it has no purpose.:thinking:
I like my anonymity -like a warm blanket. I do not use it to insult or argue.
I love an inclusive society by which I mean all voices, including different and divergent voices are listened to and people can discuss and dispute a thing/idea/cause without attacking others.
