One last toot just to point out that I've now been blocked by Eugen despite there being no aggression in our exchange whatsoever. You can verify this yourself based on the contents of my TL, and draw your own conclusions based on that.
For me? Now that this place has shown itself to not actually have anything to offer over Twitter, even being worse in some aspects due to its insular community, I'll be posting on Twitter again and hope to see you there are well.

I think "go make your own instance if you don't like that our culture here enabled white supremacists" is exactly the kind of attitude that drove most people here away from Twitter.
Blaming the public feed is a way to avoid accountability
White supremacy and transmisogyny aren't caused by engineering problems or bad design, they're caused by the community failing to protect its most marginalized members.
there are two actual problems with mastodon:
1. some of you are whiter than you think you are and somehow don't know how to respectfully interact with PoC
(Before you get involved with an exchange about race with a PoC could you not stop and think about it for one fucking second???? Some posts don't need a reply from you)
2. the nazis are actually still here. Their accounts are still here & have not been removed. As far as I can tell they could just come back & start causing problems whenever
@Gargron i would be careful in asserting that it's peoples' lack of "perspective" when those people are constantly under attack on the internet and detect certain signs as attacks, or as things that make them uncomfortable. i don't think it's on the onus of those who are upset by those who "don't know better," i think it is also something that requires other people to reflect on how the things that they do that they *think* are completely innocent and fun actually *do* cause harm to people.
