Got a new #Nook #eReader, and it came with a USB cord that charges but doesn't let me transfer files through it. ๐ I see you, Barnes & Noble, trying to lock me into using your store front. #tech #marketStrategy
@zordon That one was probably the backlit version of the one I had before. It was so good! This one wouldn't even run for me unless I signed up for a store account. ๐
I'm struggling to figure out how to make it connect via USB to my laptop. It did so while I was trying to get it to, but now I've un-done the connection to try to figure out how I did it, and I'm having no luck. ๐
@zordon I figured out both the solution and the issue that I was running into before, and it's so bonehead/stupid that ๐ฟ
Turns out: there's the beautiful little "charging" light when the device is connected by USB. But that isn't necessarily an indication that the USB cord is sufficiently secured to the USB cord to warrant connecting to my laptop. I have to apply additional pressure to it to connect to my laptop. ๐ I'm so annoyed and relieved.
@bthall Additional pressure + microUSB connection usually means that something will get bent and stop working soon.
That's not the BN we used to know.๐
@zordon Yeah ๐ฅ But I suspect that it's being cause in this model by the model's waterproofing. ๐
@bthall Really? Several years ago, I got a Nook Glow for one of the daughters-in-law. She never even created a BN account. She filled it with the ebooks she already had.
Maybe they've changed. That sounds eee-ville to me.
