Forcing myself to stay disciplined and not learn any new programming languages - doubling down on #python and #bash, the meat and potatoes of modern day #UNIX tech :)

@feoh Do you have any recommendations for and newbies like myself? Any blog posts, perhaps?

@bthall Happy to recommend some things. So, you're a beginner? What are you interested in using Python for? Much easier to stay motivated when you're working on projects that pique your interest as you learn. As a generic pointer, the tutorials on realpython.com are pretty good, and if you listen to podcasts Python Bytes - pythonbytes.fm/ , Podcast.__init__ - pythonpodcast.com/ (I'm a former co-host on that one :) and Talk Python to Me - talkpython.fm/ are superb.

@feoh Good question. πŸ˜… I'm interested in using it for data collection, analysis, and presentation of analyses to users, so seems like a good eventual fit and I'm exploring in the meantime. But I'd also like to learn how to use it for game development, app development, and maybe graph systems (relating things together). 😊

@bthall As to game development is tricky on any platform, and especially so in Python unless you're talking about text adventures or 2D puzzle games. That said, jkovac is doing some amazing things with KivEnt - kivent.org/ and Kivy in general: kivy.org/#home

As to Django - SO many great places to start there! The Django girls tutorial is excellent, as is the default DJango tutorial.

Good luck, have fun, and I look forward to seeing what you build!
