So it's been a little while since I posted. Hi!
Talk about inflating numbers. Also, not being able to port my user over to other instances and retain all my stats is kinda lame.
Pick your instance and stay there.
Major problem with Mastodon: Multiple instances allow me to create an absurd amount of fake accounts to "follow" my own central account.
I just developed Mastodon Stats, a site that shows the statistics of all instances mastodon gathered in real time. Have a look at https://mastodonstat.herokuapp.com
So far, I'm a bit surprised to not find some sort of universal navbar on Mastodon desktop.
Also, this app is legit: Amaroq for Mastodon by John Gabelmann

But seriously, how freaking cool that it's even a possibility??
Would be a pretty stinking good learning exercise to build my own Mastadon instance. But oh man, probably so much more work than I think. And I think a LOT.
Honestly, it seems to me, game development is the dream job for parents who wish they had time for that kind of stuff.
I've had nothing but internal server errors and 404 pages since creating my account. But there are a few things that make me REALLY want this platform to work:
1. Open-source.
2. Higher limit on status character limit.
3. UI is promising for a niche network.
4. I think we all are tired of big social networks, or at least networks who want to monetize our presence.
I hope this platform grows and works out the kinks!
