I'm writing a new post for rmy blog

nice! quick questions:

- what guile software do you use for blogging? is it haunt?

- what's with the super long domain of your live blog? :)
Catonano @catonano

yes, it's Haunt.

Not the released version, though, I'm using a git checkout, I don't remember why

As for the domain name, I simply didn't want to spend more money on a decent domain name, so I settled down with the name that was given to me as a default by the hoster of my vps (a German povider, I can't remember its name now)

@catonano gotcha; cool. after trying out almost every static site generator under the sun (*slight* exaggeration here :P), i've decided to try and stick with pure html, plus some simple templating like Moustache or even a more simpler one that lets me include html files inside each other. i'll give it a shot this weekend and see how it goes.

on the other hand, i've been meaning to pick up guile because guix seems veery cool. so if i end up enjoying guile i'll probably try haunt as well :)

good luck !

To you and to Haunt !

We need to create a community around it !

@catonano thanks! and that's a great idea. i believe guile in general deserves as much traction as it can get

the blog post is _exactly_ about that !!

@catonano wonderful, looking forward to reading it! would appreciate it if you could ping me when you publish it :)

of course, I'll announce it here !

But I'll ping you too !!

You should probably get a domain name sooner rather than later. If you decide to get one later, and you move your blog to the new domain, it would break all links to your blog posts. Unfortunate, but we're stuck with this DNS system for a while.

someone observed that I should also se https

I hate system administration tasks :blobugh:

Hopefully, Guix will automate most system administration tasks in the long term.
@arunisaac @catonano Instead of ditching DNS, which would be nice but is probably not going to happen, it would be better to build key based identity systems which can then move between domains without disruption.

@bob @arunisaac

I don't know what a "key based identity system" is exactly

but I'm all for simplifying administration

I don't want to set up letsencrypt, I don't want to setup ipfs

I hate system administration, with a venegance.

I should probably move to geocities, a vps is more than I can handle

Thank you for chiming in Bob
