I wish I could point electron apps at my running Firefox instance, and go "look a perfectly good browser engine go use that, you don't need to bring your own."

What language should I use for writing small CLI programs?

Mostly looking for "read this text file, parse it in this way, handle that data in some small way, and give me the output"

I don't need anything much more powerful than shell scripting, but would prefer something a bit... more. Something that compiles into standalone binaries would be preferred.

I'm currently leaning toward Rust- from skimming docs, the philosophy "feels" right.

But what do y'all recommend?

So far I've been scraping them from InterfaceLift and MacGUI.

Hi! I'm Rythmyr.

I'm a software engineer in the Minneapolis/Twin Cities area.

I infrequently stream on twitch at twitch.tv/rythmyr . When I do it's either speedruns or rhythm games, usually osu!mania (4k). I'm looking at getting more into dance games like DDR or Pump it Up, just so I can say I exercise sometimes.

I'm a furry, specifically a purple western dragon. @ me if you see any dragon art here. I don't really know many artists that use mastodon.

I'm also fairly shy, both IRL and online.
